Donuts + Croissants = Cronuts.
“Cronuts are a croissant–doughnut pastry invented and trademarked by Dominique Ansel Bakery in New York City. The pastry is made by frying a laminated dough in grape seed oil. The fried pastry is then sugared, filled, and glazed.” Wikipedia
Recently Divine Cakes and Desserts, in Canterbury, has released their new product called Cronuts. I heard about them through the grape vine (MoreFM Radio) while driving to university with my mum these past few weeks. Today I heard the ad again and I said to myself, “You know what, I had better go buy myself one of these to see if they are really as good as the seem to be.” So this morning on my way to uni I stopped off at Northlands Mall, as usual, and picked one up for myself. As you can see from the photo at the beginning of my post I chose to get the Bavarian Chocolate covered cronut with vanilla custard creme filling and cinnamon & sugar coating. (Also available with a salted caramel topping). For $4 I think I got myself a good wee deal but what really mattered was the taste.
