Exploring the beautiful things in this world
My name is Sarah-Elizabeth and I am a recovering “unconscious” beautiholic.
Okay, just let me explain myself a little bit. If you remember, last month I posted a bit about the beginning of my journey to becoming Cruelty-Free. Before I made that decision I like to describe myself as an “unconscious” beautiholic. Now I say unconscious as I knew that animal testing happened but never confronted myself to research it as I thought if I didn’t know what was going on within the different companies, I didn’t need to worry about it. Plus I also liked to ignore how much money I was spending on beauty products.
Now however, my perspective has completely changed. I am around people who challenge me on my beliefs and values and they challenged me to think about the things I support by spending my money. I believe that testing on animals is cruel and unnecessary. So, this is my public pledge to say that I refuse to spend my money on companies that make animals suffer for their products or to support corporations that abuse animals.
In my own way of encouraging brands and companies to stop testing on animals, I will support companies whose parent-companies test on animals. I personally believe that if parent companies (L’Oreal) see their cruelty-free sectors (The Body Shop), it will encourage them to do more about stopping the testing of their products on animals.
In the future I plan to train as a makeup artist and I know that in my training I will have no choice but to use beauty products which are not cruelty-free. However, I pledge to you now that once my training is complete, I will only use cruelty-free beauty products on my clients. That is unless they specifically request for me to use any of their own products which may not be cruelty-free.
My challenge to you today is to take the cruelty-free cosmetics pledge which you can find over at PETA.
