All month I have been quite busy preparing for my trip to Aussie and working full time. I knew I would have to post less on the blog and find it hard to write posts but I have to tell you, I have been missing it!! But seriously, my life has been pretty uneventful the past few weeks. Today I was needing some prompts for my writing and then I came across this tag for bloggers and just had to do it!
When did you start blogging and why?
I first started blogging in 2012 after doing a short makeup course. The blog was called “P.S You’re Beautiful” and I started it because I wanted to share new makeup things I was learning as well as encouraging other young girls like me to be more confident. Well I say blogging, but all I managed to do at the time was set up a blog, make it look nice and pretty. I never really did my first post before deleting it.
If you want to know more about why I started Child of Ponderings, head over to my About page!
How many people in real life know about your blog?
All my immediate family know about my blog because my hosting company
annoyingly left a message on our answering phone about it. I think my parents read it occasionally (Hi parents) but my brothers don’t. I think a totally of 12ish people that I are my friends/family know about it and read it (not including my blogging friends).
What are your favorite posts to read?
My favourite posts to read are hauls, reviews, tutorials, DIY, life hacks and travel posts!! Funnily enough I post most of these things myself!
What a blog you discovered recently that you love?
There are a couple of blogs that I have discovered recently that I love and excitedly check back
everyday each week for new posts. They are Lily Pebbles (who I really should have heard of before now) and Seat 31D (which is an awesome travel blog written by the lovely Josie).
Which posts are you most proud of?
The posts which I am most proud of have to be, in no particular order:
3. My Flamenco Makeup Tutorial
Which advice would you give future bloggers?
Write about the things that you love most. The things that wake you up in the morning and make you excited and happy to be alive! Those are the things that inspire you and will keep you writing for a long time.
Don’t worry about numbers as if the writing makes you happy and you have a few people reading your blog each day, who keep coming back, your blog will soon grow!
Take time out from blogging if it is keeping you back from doing things well in your life outside of your blog. You can make a living from your blog when you are just starting out. You are going to need that job/degree for a bit longer!
Take time picking your name if you want to keep blogging in the long run! Sit down and have a good brainstorm about it along with the things you want to post about. Write random words that come into your head as you think about these topics. The perfect name for you is hiding in their somewhere.
If you are in it for the free stuff or money, please, just no! Sure getting free stuff and getting paid for posts is an awesome benefit. However you really don’t want to build the foundation of your blog on the want for free things. It takes a lot of hard work, even I am not near getting free things yet. Do it because you love what you are writing about!
Make friends with other bloggers and join in on communities in your area and with people overseas! It’s nice having people who understand what you are doing and the things you might be facing! Some awesome New Zealand communities are #NZBloggers Twitter chats and the #brunchclub!
What are some of your tips for new bloggers? I’d like to know what you have to say! Also if you do this tag let me know in the comments!
