I have been challenged recently.
If you have been a long time reader of my blog you will know that I am a huge lover of animals and have always had pets as a family. Animals have always been a large part of my life since wanting to becoming a Vet as a child to my volunteer work at the SPCA in Canterbury and my current lifestyle choice of being a vegetarian. Being a Christian also means that I show love to what God love’s, which includes animals.
Recently, a friend challenged me by making me think about what do I actively do to promote the welfare of animals, other than being vegetarian and trying to be cruelty-free. I told them that although it isn’t a part of my character to go out to protests and the like, I do online activism through my blog and by signing petitions etc. Then I realised, it was almost a lie. I haven’t posted about animal welfare for a long time on my blog. This is partially due to my creativity shifting, but also because my animal activism had taken a bit of a seat on the back burner. So I have set myself a new goal to add to this years list.
What is my Goal?
Well, there are two goals i am setting. One personal and one for the blog.
- Personal goal- to actively seek out one way each month to promote animal welfare. Whether it is by signing a petition like the one below, new cruetly-free products I am using, conscientious decisions I am making about being vegetarian, etc..
- Blog goal- to post on the blog about what I have done each month to promote animal welfare.
Let’s start now!
No human or animal is born with hatred in its heart, but is taught it by the ways of the world around it. Saying one…
“Your unfailing love, O LORD, is as vast as the heavens; your faithfulness reaches beyond the clouds. Your righteousness is like the mighty mountains, your justice like the ocean depths. You care for people and animals alike, O LORD. How precious is your unfailing love, O God! All humanity finds shelter in the shadow of your wings.” ~Psalm 36:5-7
Do you have something that you believe strongly about?
Maybe you have a few things. When that happens your prioritise and something gets sent to the back burner. Have you thought about your priorities lately and looked at which ones you have been neglecting? I challenge you you make a goal like mine and do something about it!
