Exciting news for Harry Potter fans!
Yes you read the title of this post correctly. There is in fact a new Harry Potter book coming out this year. Isn’t that what we have all been dreaming of and waiting for?! It’s been 8 years this July since “Harry Potter and The Deathly Hallows”, the last book in the Harry Potter series, was released. Waking up this morning to see the news of this new book being released made me want to get out my books and reread them for the 20th time. Well when I say book it’s not quite going to be quite like the previous 7 books and here’s why.
If you are a huge fan of Harry Potter, like me, you have probably already heard that J. K. Rowling along with Jack Thorne and John Tiffany, have written a play continuation of the Harry Potter series. It’s called “Harry Potter and The Cursed Child” and it is a continuation of the “19 years later” Chapter from “Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows”. Little, Brown Book Group announced today that they will be publishing the script book of “Harry Potter and The Cursed Child Parts I and II” on July 31st 2016. This is fantastic news for of us who don’t live close enough to London (or in my case not even on the same continent) to go and watch the play at the Palace Theatre.
The eighth story. Nineteen years later.
Based on an original new story by J.K. Rowling, Jack Thorne and John Tiffany, Harry Potter and the Cursed Child, a new play by Jack Thorne, is the first official Harry Potter story to be presented on stage. It will receive its world premiere in London’s West End on 30th July 2016.
It was always difficult being Harry Potter and it isn’t much easier now that he is an overworked employee of the Ministry of Magic, a husband, and father of three school-age children.
While Harry grapples with a past that refuses to stay where it belongs, his youngest son Albus must struggle with the weight of a family legacy he never wanted. As past and present fuse ominously, both father and son learn the uncomfortable truth: sometimes darkness comes from unexpected places.
I for one am looking forward to this new release and am more than willing to pay $49.99 for the Hardback copy. This along with the upcoming release of the movie Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them in November 2016 it’s going to be a wonderful year for Harry Potter fans worldwide.
Are you as excited as me about The Cursed Child? Will you be buying the the book when it is released or are you content with the current 7 book series? Let me know your opinion in the comments below.
