The first month of 2016 is almost at its end and personally I have already achieved quite a few things on my list. For example I resigned from work, passed my restricted license test, saved all the money I needed for my first month in Hamilton and bought new glasses. However this list of mine isn’t one of resolutions but more of a list of goals for me to achieve and work towards. “But aren’t resolutions and goals the same things?” you maybe asking. Well in a way they are. Both words describe a person’s intention to be proactive about their life decisions.
For my own mindset, setting goals gives me something to achieve, where as making a resolution not to do something that is no longer wanted as a part of your lifestyle and only making that decision, with not a lot of follow through. Personally, I have hardly ever completed my resolutions within the year I make them, but I’m not saying that it is the same for you. For me, goals give me something achievable to work towards, where as my resolutions tend to be less so. They are, to me, what brings about the journey towards to end that Ernest Hemingway talks about in the quote above.
So instead of sharing my Resolutions for the new years I am going to share with you some of the goals I have made. As I said above I have already ticked off some of these from my list, but I still wanted to share them with you. Plus this gives me a great visual to make as a screensaver on my computer desktop.
My goals for 2016:
Now that I have shared mine with you, why don’t you share some of your goals for 2016 with me in the comments below.
