I have always thought myself as a bright lippie kind of girl, but recently I have noticed myself wearing a lot more neutral colours on my lips. This probably has a lot to do with wearing work appropriate makeup as well as wanting to wear something that isn’t to noticeable when it wears off. So today, inspired by my everyday wear and this weeks #BlogGreatness topic Neutral, I thought I would share my favourite, cruelty-free, neutral lipsticks.
First up are two of the L.A Girl Cosmetics Glazed lip paints in Peony and Elude. These are a more affordable versions of the Too Faced melted lipsticks and also come in a bigger tube. They are quite liquid and I would advise using a lip brush to apply them for better control. I love to wear peony when I want a bit more pop to the neutral look as it is a light, yet bright coral colour. Elude gives more of a neutral, almost concealer lips look which I don’t normally like. Bot lip paints have a gloss finish and when you first apply them they also make your lips tingly with the cooling mint in the formula.
My next favourite is one of my recent acquisitions from America (thanks to Jordanne-Leigh from Jordanne Leigh). Gerard Cosmetics 1995 has been on my eye since seeing it on Shaaanxo in her Kylie Jenner Makeup Tutorial. The main reason I wanted this lipstick was because its name is the year of my birth but when it arrived in its gorgeous, golden packaging I fell in love. It is the perfect “my-lips-but-better” colour and applies smoothly with a creamy texture.
The easiest to apply and ones I like to carry around in my handbag are PA-REE and Noo-d Fighters from Australis’ Velourlips collection. I love the doe-foot applicator when using liquid lipsticks as they male it easier for a more precise application. PA-REE is almost like another concealer lips colour but dries to a matte finish. Noo-d Fighters is a bit closer to my lip colour but has small bronze sparkles which make it looks less matte when it dries. Both of these last for a reasonable length of time but wear quickly when eating or drinking.
My most worn lipstick is Colourpop’s Lumiere by Kathleen Lights (another of my US product from A Little Pinch of Wonder). Although it is almost leaving the land of neutral colours this has to be my favourite to wear everyday, all day. To be honest the only bad thing is that I feel like I might run out soon! Even after wearing for a couple of hours it still feels creamy on my lips and not drying at all.
What are your favourite neutral lipsticks? I would love to hear what lipsticks you wear most often, whether they are cruelty-free or not.
