If you a beautiholic like me, and like a lot of beauty and brand pages on Facebook, you may have noticed this video of vlogger Nikkie, from Nikkie Tutorials, floating around your NewsFeed. What is so
“controversial” #amazing about this video is that Nikkie shows the power makeup has to transform your face. Now what I love most about the point she is putting across is that both halves of her face (both her natural and “made-up” makeup-face) are BOTH who SHE IS. Lately, make-up shaming has unfortunately become a thing on Social Media. People share photos like the one below saying that they don’t like make-up because it creates a lie.
I totally disagree with any kind of shaming and don’t believe that all women (and men) use makeup to create a lie. To put it simply:
“I use makeup as an extensions of my creativity. My face is a blank canvas ready for me to paint however I want, to show who I am.” ~Sarah-Elizabeth
So today I have decided to show you my contrasting face of my “fully made-up” and glamorous face, compared to my natural face. I LOVE both sides of my face, and accept both of them as representing me and who I am. I may have started wearing makeup when I was younger, to cover things I didn’t like and change who I am. Now I accept myself and use makeup to define my features, not define who I am. Both sides of my face are me. Don’t like it? Not your problem! 🙂
They say your eyes are like windows into your soul. 👀 So what if I like to make those windows look as beautiful as I want. Makeup just happens to be one of the way I like to do that. 💅🏽 Also note that I am not afraid to keep it real. Yes I already have slight wrinkles under my eyes. However, those wrinkles show that I am human. I laugh,😆 I cry, 😢 I get tired from not having enough sleep. 😴 Oops I didn’t put enough mascara on. I’m going to admit false eyelashes are a no go as I just plain suck at applying them. I don’t care if my eyelashes don’t look exactly even but there is no harm in giving hem a little extra oomph. And yes I know there are a couple of dots of mascara up near my eyebrow. I’m a bit clumsy sometimes and also a bit blind without my glasses. 👓 But hey I reckon it totally adds to the effect. 😉 😏 Makeup 💋 is my creative outlet and that creativity is a gift I have been given by God. 🙏🏽 I love to try out new things all the time. I don’t believe that the makeup I wear, in any way, creates a lie. I stay try to myself and who God has created me to be. 😇 your canvas may be white, paper or a computer screen but my face is like a canvas to create a work of art. 🎨
