It’s no secret that I am a huge fan of the Harry Potter series by J.K. Rowling. I’ve been reading the books over and over since I was 8 years old and I watch the movies (marathon style) yearly. So, of course, I was super excited when I heard the news that J.K.Rowling would be publishing the script for her play The Cursed Child. In celebration of its release date TODAY, I wanted to do do this Harry Potter tag and share a bit more about my obsession with this amazing series. These are the confessions of a Potterhead.
The Harry Potter Tag || Confessions of a Potterhead
What is your favourite book?
My favourite book would definitely have to be the 3rd book, Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban. It probably has to do with the fact that Harry finds a relationship with Sirius Black that connects him more to his parents. There is also some great character development, an awesome plot and is the only book where the character of Voldemort is only mentioned and not encountered.
How many times have you read or listened to the books and watched the movies?
I have probably watched the movies about 18 times each and read the books a few more times than that. I’ve just recently got into listening to the Harry Potter audiobooks, narrated by Stephen Fry, on audible. It’s such a great and new way for me to experience the books and I love that it’s so easily portable. Sure you can get the e-books too but when reading I prefer a hard copy in my hands.
Which of the elder wand, resurrection stone or invisibility cloak would you choose?
I would choose the Invisibility cloak, just because I wouldn’t have a need to have the most powerful wand in existence and as displayed in the books, the resurrection stone ended up making people more miserable.
My favourite character would have to be Hermione Granger. She is a very strong feminine lead in both the movies and books. I related to her most out of all the characters with my love of books, her want for justice for house elves and my want for justice for animals, plus our great love and loyalty to our friends.
What is your favourite movie?
Although the Prisoner of Azkaban is my favourite book, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part One and Two would definitely be my favourite movie(s). There is just so much going on and I like seeing how Harry, Ron and Hermione survive in the muggle world while on the run, collecting Horcruxes.
I think my favourite villain would be Bellatrix Lestrange. A lot of it has to do with how much I like Helena Bonham-Carter as an actress. She really makes you hate her character in this series.
Which class would be your favourite?
I think that Charms with Professor Flitwick or Transfiguration with Professor McGonagall would be my favourite class.
What would your Patronus be?
I think that my Patronus would be a cocker spaniel dog, after my dog Bonnie. To me, dogs represent love, friendship, loyalty and trust, and that would be reflected in my Patronus.
What part made you cry?
The three scenes that made me cry in both the book and the movies where the deaths of Dobby, Hedwig and Fred Weasly. There was also the moment when you find out that Lupin and Tonks died and their son Teddy would grow up an orphan just like Harry. For some reason I didn’t cry when Dumbledore died, and i think it’s because I was sort of expecting it by the time they left the cave. J. K. Rowling really knows how to pull on the heart strings.
Least favourite book?
As the Prisoner of Azkaban was my favourite book because of the Harry/Sirius relationship, you could probably guess that the Order of the Phoenix would be my least favourite purely because of Sirius’ death.
If you were on the Quidditch team, what position would you play?
Well, I would always play defence in Netball and Basketball so I reckon I would probably be a Keeper.
Who out of the cast would you most like to meet?
I would most love to meet Emma Watson. One because she is my favourite character and two because she has done some pretty amazing stuff since Harry Potter has finished. (Most notably the #HeForShe campaign.)
What house are you in?
“It does not do to dwell on dreams and forget to live.” Albus Dumbledore
If you could change anything what would it be?
The part in the Deathly Hallows book where Dudley tells Harry that he isn’t a waste of space, which wasn’t put into the movie. That would have been a great character development moment to have shown.
Are you a huge fan like me? Well, you should do this tag as I would love to see you answers!
