The Bookworm motto: “Just one more chapter!”
If you have happened to know me when I was younger or even are friends with me currently, you will know that I have always been a major bookworm. I have always loved reading books and I used to read a few young adult novels in a week.
My dream is to have a library room in my house.
As a bit of a Disney’s Beauty and the Beast fan I can help but lust over Belle’s library. One day I will have a whole room just dedicated to all my books. It will be my safe, happy place. (Gosh that sounds nice!) In my house we currently have about 6 bookshelves full of books!!! We used to have even more but have downsized since moving.
I attempted to read Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows in one day.
As you know I am a huge Harry Potter fan and I was one of those people who pre-ordered the last book. I really wanted to challenge myself to read the book in one day, just like I had seen hundreds of other young bookworms like me do on the news. Unfortunately I was staying at my Aunty’s house at the time and I was “forced to go to bed. But first thing in the morning I started reading it again and didn’t do anything else until I finished it!
Book vouchers are my favourite gift to receive.
I remember when I was about 11 and all my friends gave me book vouchers for my birthday. I don’t think I had ever received such an awesome birthday gift. Last year I was also given $100 worth of book vouchers for Whitcoulls. It was like an awesome shopping spree for me!! I think I spent most of the vouches on buying the entire Mortal Instruments Series.
I used to max out my library card.
My local library used to have a limit of 30 books and I was that girl who had to make the hard decision of which books to put back on the shelf and which 30 to keep. Seriously!! I used to hold the stack with my chin as I went up to the counter.
I used to work in a library.
In my 2nd to last year of high school I ended up getting a part-time job at my local library. One of the greatest benefits was not getting any fines for overdue books! In saying that I tended to return my books on time while I worked there because I was there every week. I just loved learning the library system and being around books all afternoon, and earning money at the same time!
Fines stay fine for a while.
Nowadays I still tend to rack up fines on my library card because it takes me longer to read the books I pick out now. Plus I just like to savour each book. I also figured out that I would rather buy a book I want to read, second-hand of course, instead of paying fines to the library.
So are you a fellow bookworm? What are some confessions you have to make on the matter?!
