It’s a tale as old as time….
There was once a young girl who grew up wanting to be just like the girl from a Disney movie. She related to her on so many levels, through the characters love for reading, singing and dancing to looking for the good in people. As she grew older, she tried to treat people with equal care and love no matter their appearance. Then one day she found out that they would be bringing her favourite movie back to life and the lead role would be played by an actress who she admired greatly….
Hey guys! It’s been a while, hasn’t it? Well, I don’t know where you’ve been if you don’t already know what I’m about to tell you, but the Disney live-action version of Beauty and the Beast comes out in cinemas tomorrow! I am so excited to watch this as I have been waiting eagerly for it since the announced the movie’s release. In typical Spanish Bluebell fashion, I wanted to post a couple of beauty ideas for you ladies who want to glam up a bit for the event. I’ve teamed up with my beautiful friend Tegan from @_tegannailedit_, using the new Nailed it NZ brushes to bring you a quick and easy nail look. I’ve also linked below a Belle inspired makeup look I did a wee while back. But first I want to introduce you to some life changing nail tools!
The new Nailed it NZ brushes
Jessie from Nailed it NZ is an amazing nail artist who I have been following for the past few years. She has so many creative ideas that I have always wished I could do myself but never had the proper tools to achieve what I wanted to do. Most of the time when I do my nails, I end up screwing up a line or not carrying out the idea properly. That means I end up taking off my nail polish that same day. How many of you are like that too? Well, luckily for us NailtedIt NZ has released some new nail brushes and tools to make things easier for us at home.
The detail tool (top brush) is so perfect for doing those fine lines as it’s really thin and precise. The cleanup Brush (2nd brush) has got an angled edge to help you get in nice and close to your nails to remove any nail polish you got on your skin. It’s also really great for tidying up French tips. The striping Brush (3rd brush) is like an elongated version of the detail brush. It’s great for doing long lines that stretch across your nail. The dotting tool is ideal for any design that requires a rounded edge, for example, the rose below or a polka dot look. It’s double ended with a bigger ball at one end and a smaller, finer ball tip at the other.
All of the tools can be used with gel polishes and normal nail lacquers. You can find tutorials on how to use the brushes of the Nailed it NZ Youtube channel. My friend Tegan and I both were kindly gifted some from Nailed it NZ and below you can see the look Tegan created. You can also get 10% off by using the code: BLOGGER
Beauty and the Beast Inspired nails with @_tegannailedit_
“So to get this the Beauty and the Beast inspired nail look I started off by applying a base coat to my nails. After letting it dry I applied a couple of layers of 485 “Golden-I” by Sally Hansen. To start the Rose, I used Revlon in “Lime Basil” for the stem applying with the Nailed it NZ striping brush. For the Rose itself, I used 51123 “Totes Orchs” by Australis as the main colour and applied it with the Nailed it NZ dotting tool. Then for the details of the Rose, I used the detail brush with Sally Hansen 260 “So much fawn” and Rimmell 703 “White Hot Love”. It’s as easy as that and the new Nailed it NZ brushes made it that simple.”
Belle Inspired Makeup
A couple of years ago I did a Disney Princess inspired makeup tutorial, which was heavily based on Belle One of my favourite things was the combination of the yellow and pink for the eyes. I would never have thought to use yellow on my eyes, but when paired with the right colour it works amazingly. You could easily substitute the pink for a maroon, light or navy blue, to make it more Belle inspired. You can look through the tutorial photos below or check out the full tutorial here.
Have you got any plans for the new Beauty and the Beast movie? What are they? I’d love to know!
