Since I’ve become a vegetarian and decided to go cruelty-free with my lifestyle, I’ve had to change my beauty routine, which included getting rid of a lot of my makeup, or using it up and not re-purchasing. One of the hardest things was finding a beauty brand that was affordable, good quality and cruelty-free that I could buy the majority of my makeup from. Looking through my makeup collection today I think I have found a winner and it is Australis Cosmetics.
I recently started using the Australis Oh 2 Glow Foundation and I would have to say that it is my favourite Australis foundation yet. It looks very natural on the skin and I managed to get a pretty close colour match to my skin. True to its name it is more glowy than matte, which I personally prefer. It has a good coverage as it covers redness and discoloration with one, maybe two layers max.
I use this every time I put my foundation on and it creates a much smoother base for my makeup application. This is a staple in my makeup routine and it is moisturising enough that if I’m having a good skin day I don’t have to use moisturiser too.
As you can tell by the not so perfect packaging I use this palette a heck of a lot. It is not quite as good quality as my Anastasia Beverly Hills contour palette, however, it is great for its price and I get a lot of use out of it. I use the contour palette mainly when I want a really defined cheekbone and I use the middle greyish brown colour. I also like to use the warmer brown colours as eyeshadows/contours when I feel like doing something really simple.
The “banana” powder is good for covering and setting blemishes and for light use under the eyes. I also like the shine of the highlight and use it when I want it to stand out more. I don’t get a lot of use out of the lightest shade but use it occasionally on my eyes or when doing makeup looks.
All of the shades are quite powdery so you only need use a light hand and make sure to tap off the excess powder. Also, make sure to blend really well.
Australis Metallix Foiled Shadow
I LOVE these foiled eyeshadows and use them for most event makeup looks I do on myself and my friends. I have three of the shades: Guns n Rose Petals, Gold Gaga and Lana Del Grey. There are a few others in the collection too and they all have awesomely punny names! If you want your eyes to pop these are great. you can use a small amount for a more subtle sparkle or layer it on to make your eyes stand out. I haven’t yet figured out which method of application is best but i go between a sponge brush, my finger and a small, short-haired, dense brush. Make sure you apply eyelid primer if you are only using these shadows.
This is a great and natural looking eyebrow product. Just don’t go heavy-handed on it and make sure to wipe all the excess make into the tube before brushing through your eyebrows. Once it has set it will keep your eyebrows in place all day.
This has to be my favourite affordable mascara ever! Although it isn’t as smooth as my previous mascara by Eye of Horus, it really lengthens and darkens my eyelashes. I love the thin, small bristles of the silicone wand applicator. This mascara will last all day and separates your lashes as you apply. It washes off really easily with a bit of warm water and a flannel. I would still suggest using makeup remover or face wash as it goes everywhere as you take it off.
Australis Velourlips Matte Lip Cream
The Australis Velourlips are my all-time favourite and holy grail matte lip creams. They stay on for hours even when eating and drinking unless you are eating oily foods. I normally only have to reapply once in the afternoon which is great. Make sure your lips a really well moisturised though and get rid of any flaky skin with a lip scrub.
Have you ever used any Australis products? What do you think of them?
